Personal Narrative: The Sport Of Baseball In My Life

Decent Essays
The game of baseball has always been in my life since I was a child. My love for the game began when I was five years of age signing up for tee ball at the local little league. As a child, I would imagine myself as a professional ballplayer. I would mimic my idols every chance I had or I would dream of myself being in a critical situation to win the game and to make history. Now, I am chasing my dream by trying to become one of those greats who played the game. I would spend countless hours trying to push myself to being the best I can possibly be, as I reach my goal. Baseball is a burning passion inside of me that will never die. Everything in my life is surrounded by baseball and nothing else.

First of all I had a really enjoyable time reading the book, The Glory of Their Times, written by Lawrence S. Ritter. This book was simply about the author recording the memories of baseball players from the early 1900s etc. I’ve learned a lot from this book, it showed me that there is always a way to achieve your goal no matter who are you are and what you do. Some of the players had even gone through the Progressive Era, which was a time of social activism and political reform in the U.S. and to see the ball players go through it and struggle, really opened my eyes. Another major issue that most of the players faced was The Great Depression.…

Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field.…

I play on the women's collegiate softball team at St. Thomas University. I have been playing softball since I could walk and, along with every other athlete, my dream is to play on the biggest and brightest stage possible. For softball that is the NCAA College World Series. Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to make millions of dollars playing professional softball like many other professional athletes. This is it for me because college is the highest level of softball I will play in my life and I don't want to settle at a school where I know my athletic ability and hard work could get me so much further.…

I am currently a baseball player for Lower Columbia College where I am also pursuing a general education AA with the expectation of transferring to a four-year college or university in fall of 2016. I signed with the Red Devils in 2014 while still in high school, receiving a scholarship to play for them during my college freshman and sophomore years. Although I originally planned on majoring in education to teach math and science at the middle and high school levels, my interests have shifted to focus on sports therapy/physical therapy due to my involvement in sports. I have been playing baseball since I was seven (7) years old, dedicating a large percentage of my time and energy to be the best player possible. Because I was always on the…

Even since I was little, baseball has and will always be my passion. I have played baseball every summer, but if I had to choose a favorite it would of been the summer of 2010, when I was twelve. The reason why it's my favorite is because I got to experience an event of a lifetime, playing baseball in Cooperstown, New York. There is a tournament there every summer that consists of more than one-hundred teams and the only way to describe it is amazing. In order to play in this tournament, we had to fundraise enough money to be able to compete, and honestly the fundraisers we had held were so much fun.…
