Personal Narrative: The Sport Of Baseball

Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field. Being on the other end of the stick in the situation makes you wish for a mercy on you and you can just go home and play Xbox for the rest of the night. Probably the only scary aspect of baseball is getting clocked in the jaw by an awful pitcher’s baseball. And uh… well, that happened to me. Ok, basically, I went up to the plate. I was feeling pretty good about myself that day. Even though

One of the reasons why many find the sport of baseball boring is because the majority of them don’t understand the rules of the game. I find baseball games to be completely consuming. Yeah, I know, it’s just a game. Unless you know the rules to the game, it’s hard to really appreciate all that goes on. One pitch can change the whole outcome of a game; one play can turn out to be more than what it seems.…

It all started a couple months ago in the middle of the country, at a small community college, I heard from my coach that I just met, “Give it all right now because you never know when you caught your last ball, threw your last ball, or hit your last ball.” This quote gave me thought and I figured that he was right, like what if I get into a car crash and the aftermath of the accident meant that I lose my legs, my arms, or I even die. That’s when I reflected on the idea that I should make the most of my baseball career while I still have the likelihood of playing baseball. When I was four years old I watched television in a plethora and I stumbled upon a Major League Baseball game and after that game I told myself that I was going…

Now, 16 years later I absolutely love everything about the game of baseball. So much that I have a job with the Detroit Tigers, who are a professional Major League Baseball team.…
