My persistence shines when I am playing sports or when I am doing school work. An example of this is when I was on the basketball team for my school. The other formidable teams would intimidate us because they were so much bigger and more stalwart. We lost every single game except for one, which was the last game of the season. In the beginning of the only game we won, we fell behind by a large margin. At halftime our coach told us to keep fighting and believe that we could win the game. Another time that I was persistent is when I wanted to cut off most of my hair. I had hair down to my waist, and when I asked my mom if I could cut off about 12 inches of it, she was opposed to the idea. However, I gave her good reasons as to why she should let me, and she finally agreed. Lastly, I am persistent when I work on my art. Even though I may not be happy with what I am doing at the time, I know that if I keep working at it, I will improve.…

People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. As we think other cultures are weird we have to look at the fact that our culture is weird to others People that have never seen basketball would thing it is a bunch of people running around with a ball.…

At the time it seemed like the right thing to do I felt like they didn’t care about me and every time I did something right I felt like they would be jealous of me. One of my greatest assets is dedication. While I was not the best basketball player on my high school team, I worked constantly to perfect my jump shot. Throughout my high school basketball career, I have met with my coach three days per week for one-on-one workouts to perfect my ball handling and shooting form. I wanted to be a much better basketball player, and was willing to put the work in to improve my game every day. I made the Varsity basketball team as a freshman, but didn't see the court at all.…

When I was a sophomore in high school I was trying out for my high school’s varsity men’s hockey team. I played goalie, and there were two other goalies trying out for the team. I felt confident about my tryout, but when the coaches asked to see me in their office by confidence turned into nervousness. When I walked into the coaches office I saw the look on their faces, and I knew what they were going to say next. They gave the option to stay on the team; or I could go play for a club high school team, because they were looking for a second goalie to fill their roster.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

I started my journey in health and fitness at a young age. I was always one of those kids who just could not sit still - so I was into everything, climbing trees, riding bikes, swimming, sports, you name it I was into it. However my discipline to this way of life came when I discovered basketball, it was when I was about 13/14 and shot up to practically the height I am now, so my teachers said why don't you try and develop your skills as a basketball player as I was taller than most of my teachers at 13 which lead them to think I'd grow to be some kind of 7 foot giant, but unfortunately that didn't happen, would've been cool though.…
