At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders. Of course, I didn't want to lose and I wanted to strive to do my best. When I made the Junior Varsity team, the first thing I thought about was how I needed to give my best. My team wanted to beat TC West more than anything, and now I was a part of this team! We had our heads in the game and pulled out the first few points. As the game went on, we were back and fourth. I had my personal record for blocks and hits against a team that I was so nervous for. As I played my front row rotation and was going to sub out for someone to come in and serve for me , my coach informed me that I would be serving. Alpena had 18 points, and TC West had somewhere extremely close to that. My first two serves were aces, and our whole team had gone hype. From there we volleyed 4 points and went beast mode. The student section was going crazy. Now, I knew I had to push one more point because we had 24 and we go to 25. I told my self we were the greatest, tossed the ball up, hit it with all I had left in me and ran in the court to see the other team shank the ball right into the net. We had just beat TC West! My whole team had surrounded me, hugging me, jumping up and down and screaming. We did it and I could not have been happier with our performance! I was crying tears of joy. Our team had rose to the occasion and en-bodied the greats
