Personal Narrative: Moving Again

Improved Essays

I hear the familiar yell of my mother from downstairs as I scramble to fix the bookshelf I had just toppled over. I was twelve at the time, yet my curiosity and boyish desire to explore led me to my failed attempt to reach the fabled attic. It was about ten feet tall to reach the cord that would open the attic, so I devised a scheme to use the bookcase as a stepstool. The feeble bookcase had too narrow of a base to support my wiry 90 pound frame, and shortly after I commenced the climb I found myself on the floor. “WHAT WAS THAT?!”…

The wand flew out of her hand again and floated in mid-air, illuminating both books and nothing else. Shaking her head, she returned to the books. No matter how many fearsome adventures she had faced, nothing quite unnerved her as sounds in the dark. She turned over the inside front covers.…

I rest my head onto my arms. This book could make me famous, or flush my career as a writer down the toilet. The entire bedroom was enclosed in a blanket of darkness. I could hear my sisters, Lillian and Angela, breathing lightly as sleep came across them. I edged my way to the little bookcase next to my bed and my hand fumbled across it; I felt my horse figurines, a few hairclips, and a notebook, but I didn’t need those things now. Finally, my hand located my mini yellow flashlight I had earned at that year’s summer reading program. Grasping it tightly, I retreated to my pillow and reached underneath and pulled out…Extra Credit.…

Shaping My Life I made myself into the person that I am today. I’m kind, caring and a person, which led me to change the way that I think and the atmosphere around me. I’ve always been caring and kind to others, and I’ve always thought about wanting to help people for the rest of my life. I changed that way that I think in several different ways, including changing how shy that I was and how I wasn’t looking people in the eyes when I talked to them. I also changed the way that the atmosphere was around me, by working hard in my life, and figuring out who my real friends were.…

No Turning Back The opportunity to truly start over is a rare occurrence.
