Me and classmates were told that we had to do something nice for the school. It wasn’t just our grade, it was the whole middle school who had to something. There were tons of jobs to be done just inside the building. When it was nice out, some of the 8th graders would go out and do the things outside, while the rest of us stayed inside. My job was organizing the bookshelf in the library. Unless it was a short week or you were gone most of it, everyone had to do their job at least 2 times a week. I try and do mine 3 times a week if I can, just to be nice. I signed up to do it every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Usually Fridays are the days that I can’t make it, but most of the time I do. The bell rang, again and I grabbed my stuff and went straight to the science room. We’re doing a lab on growing different kinds of plants and seeing how tall they get each day. My headache got worse every 5 minutes. At least that’s what it felt like. When there were ten minutes left of science I asked my teacher, Mrs. Bobby, if I could go down to the office and get some tylenol. She said I could but come right back. I went down and told the secretary and she said that I didn’t have a fever. She gave me some tylenol and said if it don’t help, come back. I said ok and went right back up to the science room. By the time I got back up there the bell was going to ring and I would go down and eat lunch. The bell rang and we all rushed downstairs and sat down. After lunch my headache was gone so I didn’t go back to the office. I had E.L.A. for an hour, then I went to study hall for the rest of the day. I thought about asking my mom if I could maybe skip school today, but decided not to because then she asked me why and have to make sure that I really didn’t feel good and things like that. I got everything that I needed to get done for school today, so I went out into the kitchen to eat breakfast. When I got in there, everyone was in there pajamas and the kitchen was cold. I asked why everyone was in there pjs and why the kitchen was so cold. Mom said, “Did you hear me yell upstairs and tell you that there was no school today?” “No,” I said “why?” “There is 3 feet of snow on the ground.” she said. “Oh, so no school?” “There’s totally going to be school when there is 3 feet of snow on the ground,” she said “Of course there’s no school!” I started to dance around and sing. First of all, I was so worried about school today. Second, I was getting tired of being at school everyday of the week, so it was time for a break. After I was done with my dance, I went up to my room and texted Ava. She was glad that we didn’t have school too. I started to talk a little about the library book. I told everything that happened. Her voice started to get worried. She said that a little after 3:00, the lights went out twice. That was when the book started to glow and I touched it. Did the whole lights in the school go out? I didn’t want to go to school tomorrow because I would have to work in the library again. I
