Personal Narrative: Jasmine Middle School

Improved Essays
The first thing I noticed when I walked into Jasmine Middle School was how big the eighth graders were. I knew that in middle school the sixth graders would be the babies, but it was still kind of a shock at how big eighth graders really were; well, at least I hoped the kids I was looking at were eighth graders. If the group of kids hanging out by the lockers were seventh graders, then eighth graders must be huge. Luckily, after looking around for a few seconds, I spotted my best friend, Georgina Larson by the water fountain. She’s never hard to find, because her hair is light blonde, and she’s always wearing really flashy outfits. Like today, she had on a strapless, sweetheart neck, white and turquoise chevron dress with a gold belt around …show more content…
I started to walk in that direction, not caring that the office was the opposite way, the way Georgina was going. What had just happened? Who were those girls, and why was Georgina going with them instead of me? Did she know them from camp? I kind of made a big loop around the school, but I eventually reached the office. It was the only place I knew how to get to. Sure I’d gone to sixth grade orientation, but the whole school was still a big blur to me. As I reached the office, I saw a long line of kids, all waiting to receive their schedules. Middle school kids. They all looked a lot bigger than me, and since I was alone, I felt more vulnerable. So I just got in line behind a boy who looked like a seventh grader. Thankfully, he ignored me, and I just calmly waited in line for my schedule. After waiting for about three minutes, the bell rang. But it wasn’t that big of a deal to me. It was the first day and I was waiting for my schedule, the teachers couldn’t get mad at me for that, could they? I waited and waited until finally it was my …show more content…
He nodded, and started searching in a big crate with a bunch of files. He grabbed a Manila envelope, and handed it to me. I thanked him and left the office. Inside the envelope was my schedule, a student handbook, and an events calendar.
I looked down at my schedule.

1. Math, 207, Johnson, Mark
2. Spanish 1, 110, Amber, Kelly
3. Science, 333, Witherman, Thalia
4. Lunch
5. Studio Art, 107, Lee, Katie
6. English, 318, Miller, Sean
7. Geography, 219, Kramer, Petra

Great. So I had math first. I hate math. Back in elementary school, it was always my toughest subject. But then I looked at my fourth hour and smiled. Lunch. That meant I had lunch with Georgina. Quickly, I found a set of stairs, and went up to the second floor. I felt the weight of my backpack pulling me down. I hadn’t even had time to stop at my locker first! When I got up to the second floor, I saw I was by room 219. I was looking for 207. I glanced left. 220. Nope. Wrong direction. I looked right. Room 218. I started to walk that way.
Surprisingly, room 207 was pretty easy to find. But that was only half the battle. Now I had to walk in, five minutes late, and be embarrassed in front of everybody. Great. I slowly turned the knob of the door and walked in, as 27 pairs of eyes shifted to look at

My books felt like weights beneath my left arm. I sluggishly made my way over to the door, put my hand on a cold silver handle, and deserted the solace of the common room. I was already halfway up the flight of stairs owing to the common room’s elevation, but I didn’t want to finish journey. Each step represented a new obstacle: a hard test, a bad day, or a tough loss. I had already climbed my way through third form and most of fourth, but the metaphorical steps ahead looked too imposing for me.…

As curious as I am, I walked down the steps and the noise became louder, and louder. The voice rang, “Help us! Help!” I opened the old, wooden, smelly door and saw rows and rows of people lying on old, gross bunk beds. There had to be at least 200 people down in this huge room!…

Baby Hippos The soul purpose of school is to get an education, it’s not to make friends,or pass time it’s just to get an education, but some people seem to forget that. Most students tend to find a balance between being social and getting their work done, but once in awhile there’s that one person who cares too much about either being social or getting their work done, and that was exactly the case for the girl who forever changed my life, Valerie. Valerie was the stereotypical popular girl she had to always be the center of attention, if anything were to take away attention from her she would crush it just like she did to me. It was a Tuesday afternoon, I had just gotten out of the cafeteria after eating a delicious hamburger with ketchup…

A few weeks ago, I found myself on the second floor of the North end of the Unity Health Hospital, dressed in the nicest button-up shirt and dress pants I own, shaking so hard that my folder, which held my resume, cover letter, two pens, notebook paper and a cheesy motivational quote stuck to the inside cover, nearly fell out of my hands. My first job interview was an experience that I will never forget. My anxiety reached the point of exacerbation during the fifteen minutes that I spent in the empty lobby. I had intentionally arrived fifteen minutes earlier than my appointed time and was only accompanied by my own thoughts, which were fraught with worry. Had I arrived too early?…
