My First Hunt This even happened back in 2009 when I was eight years old. It was my first time hunting with my dad and he was going to let me shoot whatever walked out. My dad loves to hunt and has killed many of deer over the years so when he asked me to go with him, I said yes because I wanted to bond with him and have father-son time. That night I couldn’t sleep because I was so excited to hunt with my dad but finally I fell asleep. The next day I woke up to get ready and packed. We started to pack our hunting clothes and gear for the trip. After we got everything packed, we loaded it up in the truck and took off. Once we got there and unloaded everything it was about 2:30 p.m. the time we usually get there. I got ready to go hunt that evening because we got to the stand about three but sometimes it depends on what time the sun goes down, if …show more content…

I got in his lap and got the gun ready, I was so nervous I had the tree shaking it felt like. We were waiting and it walked out to the right of us about sixty yards. I took the gun off safety took a deep breath closed my left eye and all I hear is my dad say to me is squeeze the trigger. Boom! My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…

My father always carries a back pack with him even if he isn’t the one hunting. In that bag he keeps a first aid kit and extra hats and gloves. My father then informed me that we had about 300 yards to walk before we would be at our ground blind. I remember thinking to myself, “really, I did not sign up for walking. I’m just ready to shoot my first deer and go back and brag to all of the guys!” I sucked it up and made the walk.…
