She gave us instructions as to what to how she wants it done and in what order. We all lined up and got ready for the dreaded kicks. ONE! My foot hit the floor softly. TWO! The same hit again. THREE! I slammed to the floor. I didn’t feel anything at first and was very confused as to why I fell and couldn’t get back up. I looked down and screamed so loud I swear I felt the floor shake. In front of me lay my leg with my knee cap completely popped out and on the left side. I screeched and screeched “SOMEONE HELP ME SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!” but everyone just stared. It felt like slow motion, everyone staring but no one helping me, everyone looking in utter horror and shock of what had occurred. Finally, the coaches ran to me in a panic yelling at others to go get help. Water overwhelmed my eyes as some ran to the back of the gym in fright, while others rushed to comfort me. One girl who I was relatively close with told me everything would be alright I just had to let the school physical trainer, who had rushed to the scene, pop my leg back in. I was absolutely terrified of the trainer even touching my wound but to pop the leg back in would be ludacris! I began to ask over and over again if I could still try out, no one knew how badly I wanted to be on the Varsity team even with my leg completely discombobulated. The trainer told me I’d be fine and recover in enough time , which I later found out he was just saying so I could stay calm, but the truth was my leg wouldn’t fully be healed for months. After much persuasion from everyone around me I decided to let the trainer pop my patella back in so I wouldn’t have to go to the hospital. I bit down hard on a t-shirt and counted to three then we straightened my leg out. Finally the easy part was over…. Yes the easy part cause the journey after this injury was far
