Abstract
One of the most important factors in life is health. Health contributes to our overall well-being and lifestyle. There are so many benefits to having a healthy lifestyle. Living a healthy lifestyle is the first step to lower the risk of attaining a weight or health related disease. Not all diseases are preventable, but a large proportion of diseases, like heart disease and diabetes, can be avoided. Avoiding disease is not the only benefit of living a healthy lifestyle. Living a healthier life not only prevents many diseases, it also improves your mental, social, and physical well-being. Improving your lifestyle will also help you live longer.

I decided to choose this topic for my improvement project because I need this change in my life. I was very motivated to start improving my eating habits and start exercising. Another reason I am doing this project to increase my self-confidence. Becoming healthier and losing weight helped me feel better about myself. The only person that is influenced this change is my doctor. My last doctor visit I was told I was at risk for developing diabetes since I am overweight and diabetes runs in my family. The long-term benefit of living a healthy lifestyle is the prevention of diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease and stroke (Clark, 2017). Being told I was at risk for a condition that could affect the rest of my life really made me want to change my …show more content…
I had a number of barriers and obstacles that came my way his semester. Those obstacles hindered my health journey. Because of financial problems and lack of motivation I need not meet any of my personal improvement project goals. There is a lot I would have done differently with this improvement project. I let my financial situation get in the way of my health. After I lost my job, I could not afford to keep my gym membership anymore. When this happened I was upset because I was really motivated to achieve my goals. My financial obstacle truly made me lose all drive and motivation. I regret letting this affect my health
