In this essay, I will discuss my results on the style approach questionnaire, as well as, my thoughts on leadership. The style approach is not a refined theory that provides a neatly organized set of prescriptions for effective leadership behavior. Rather, the style approach provides a framework for assessing leadership in a broad way, as behavior with a task and relationship dimension. The style approach works by describing the major components of their behavior (Northouse, 2013).

One of the best leaders I have ever had the pleasure of working under would have been Bob Thrower. He served in the United States Army as a lieutenant coronel for twenty-four years. Bob has a Master’s degree in administration. Spending most his life in leadership roles he definitely had what it takes to lead an organization. From simple to complex issues he never had a problem jumping ahead to resolve the problem. He was a very informative, respectable, and fair leader. I never had to question where I stood with my job or with him. The kind of experience he gained over his years of employment certainly showed. He always made it a point to speak in the morning before he started in with a list of daily tasks for me to complete. I believe the style approach was very evident in both of my examples of previous leaders. Bob was a great middle ground leader. He had an equal amount of task and relationship behavior. This mix made him trusted, respected, and well liked. He truly had a great way of addressing all problems and could do so while still being personable regardless of the nature of the situation. My other previous manager was extremely task oriented and it was very evident after reading about these two traits. This made it very hard for the employees who worked under her. She was overly concerned with work and the stress that comes with it versus her employees. She needed a better balance and she could have been an exceptional
