Nursing Leadership Philosophy

My Leadership class has made me more cognizant of the different leadership styles and gave me the opportunity to examine each leadership style more in-depth and acquire a better understanding as to how they apply to our everyday lives. As our healthcare systems continue to evolve, so do our leaders of today. As I transition from A Licensed Practical Nurse to a Registered Nurse role in a few months so will my list of responsibilities. In today’s society to be viewed as an effective leader, one has to possess the characteristics and display the roles that are directly related to that particular leadership style.
My understanding of what a Transformational leader is one that uplifts his staff.
These types of leader possess various roles and characteristic traits that will be accepted by many. This individual is well-rounded, meaning very involved with the team, motivates, offers encouraging words so the team members thus aspiring them to strive above and beyond their expectations. While doing so, this leader will provide them with the necessities for professional growth and advancement. Most individual need to be reassured that someone believes in them, having such person in their corner provide them with a sense of security.

They are very good in influencing others and also very creative in the use of their knowledge to in making the decision relating to the team and the betterment of their patients. They employ such self-confidence, hence using their abilities to benefit others. Transformational leaders are very effective communicators; they utilize this form of communication to transmit important information to his team members. For one to have very good communication skills, the leader must be compassionate to other needs, have a good rapport and never assume the stands that others recognized as being better than the
