In a survey, conducted by the sophomore class on October 19, 2015, students were asked if they felt teachers spoke with them often about their plans after high school. A majority of the students felt like very few teachers ever asked about their futures plans either it was college or a job. I think it is important that teacher discuss this with students also trying to help them figure out what they want to do. Another thing that I believe needs improved is the enrollment numbers if we want to keep our school we need more kids. In an interview with Brian Munger on November 3, 2015, he suggested every business hiring at least one employee.…

I would make sure that my paraprofessional is well aware of what his or her role are within the classroom and also what they are responsible for and whom. Some roles that they could help take a part in, within the classroom is that they can help find resources to implement within the room, but it is ultimately, me as the teacher’s ultimate decision. It is good to get other ideas too, because they are a part of the room as well. A responsibility, that I could let them know that they are in charge of is, supervising students. This can range from different things, but a couple may be, hall duty, bus duty, lunch duty, and other activities that go on.…

I am currently student teaching in a 4th grade classroom at Sunset Elementary under my master teach, Alissa Nakaji. Upon my first day, I instantly fell in love with the dynamics of the classroom. The classroom had colorful posters explaining rules, consequences, inspirational quotes, and a list of roles for each student (changed weekly). This classroom feels more like a community of students striving together to have an optimal learning experience instead of just one teacher demanding and controlling the students. It is very autonomous and the teacher is involved only when needed.…

I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

After reading the first few chapters of The Multiplier Effect (Wiseman, 2013), and reflecting on the focus of being a liberator in my school, I have realized that making mistakes is acceptable if you can learn from them. No one is without mistakes or accidents, but if you can become aware of a potential personal weakness in a certain area or a character trait that can be focused upon, the mistake becomes an experience to understand yourself in the future. When I reflect on mistakes I have made throughout my teaching career, there are several that come to mind in which I have learned from, and have made me a better teacher. First, I remember a time, and there still are times occasionally, when I find myself acting somewhat like a “tyrant.”…

It was always an unnecessarily horrifying moment when I accidentally called my teacher “mom”. The teacher would laugh, and my classmates would laugh, so naturally my face turned a scarlet shade of red in response. It is a common mistake among young students to refer to their teachers as “mom”, and I have even received this accidental honor as a tutor. At its core, I feel like this subconscious mistake says a lot about how students naturally feel about their favorite teachers. However, how does this speak to the meaning of a teacher and the role they play for our students?…

Although teaching is a field that is extremely rewarding, it also comes with its share of challenges. These challenges can be overcome, however, if the teacher believes in their students ability to learn, and is able to inspire and motivate them. The teacher can accomplish this task through motivating the students through lessons, tests, and a positive classroom environment. If the teacher is fully committed to their student’s best interests, the classroom will ultimately succeed, even if there are challenges along the way.…

Thesis: “How is a ‘Good Teacher’ defined in a student-centered classroom? In education, it’s not always easy to define the term “good teacher.” When I entered into the Master studies a year ago, I knew I wanted to be a good teacher. By definition, a good teacher is a ’’high- quality teacher’’ (Merriam- Webster).…
