The OPA results were positive overall for the department overall. The teams are strongly tied to the company’s mission statement and appear to feel the organization is operating with efficiency. While the pay measure appears to be an area of strength for the team if you drill down into the individual workgroups the Communication’s team sees this as an area for improvement. This is reflected in the Communication teams’ comments as well. In the lower scoring areas we are less worried about supplier relations as the department does not interact much with vendors and suppliers to the health system. Their highest score of positive working conditions reflects directly on the lay out and location of their offices. Located on the 4th floor of an office complex the team is in a quite environment with ergonomic desks and windows. The SRC has specific areas of improvement in Operational Efficiency and Facilitative Organizational Design. When looking specifically at the teams comments the note “Hire more people in the F&N… so that all patients get their meals in a timely manner.” This comment supports the team’s observations that patient’s orders are getting delayed due to short staffing in Nutritional Services at one of the facilities. This reflects negatively on the SRC with customers although they are not at …show more content…
The group identifies with the importance of the mission as the other two, this serves as a strength. Of the Ten Measures, Communications has opportunities in seven. We will focus on the bottom three with the lowest score is of Pay, which has also teased out in the groups comments. “Better pay and incentives makes for happier employees.” Notes the group. Looking at the health system, this group is in the bottom tier for pay. Concerning, looking at the job description and comparable organizations, the team appears to correctly assume they are paid less than the market. Positive working conditions is another area for opportunity for the group. The team is spread over the six acute care hospitals in the system. Each area is small and cramped for space, and appears to be in need of updating. Reflections from the team are seen in the comments for this area as well. Pride is a final area we would recommend for improvement. The group scores lower that its peer teams as well as industry standards. Pay and positive working conditions could weigh heavy on this measure and indicate the team needs motivation and
