Decisions made in the team will be reported to nursing leaderhsip for adoption. The purpose of the Nurse Orientation Team is to desgin a collaborative approach to the orientation process of precepted time on the nursing unit. Specifically, the purpose of this team is to accomplish the following:
• Standadize precepted time of orientation at IUH Ball Memorial Hospital
• Design and implement a systematic, reliable plan to ensure sustainability and spread of orientation initiatives
• Provide continued support to hospital leadership and direct care staff
The Nurse Orientation Team also created specific goals to achieve over the span of the project. The Nurse Orientation Team Goals are the following:
• Efficient and effective onboarding of our new hires
• Improve the orientation process through collaboration
• Determine the organization foundational preceptor model and decisions to be made at unit level

The majority of the resources needed have been time and space. This does equate to salary dollars for the staff nurses on the team. They are hourly staff and being on the team requires extra non-worked hours. The majority of resources utilized will come during the education of the preceptors. The steps of project management are being utilized during this project. They are define the problem, develop solutions, plan the project, execute the plan, monitor and control the progress and close the project. (Heagney, 2012, p. 15) The team began meeting the week of August 17th officially. Throughout the course of this project all steps of project management were met except monitor and control the progress and close the project. Education for precptors began on October 5th with one hour sessions scheduled daily Monday thru Friday until October 23rd. The Staggered Shifts Orienation program is scheduled to GoLive on November 2nd. The last two steps of project management will be completed by January 4th. A final meeting has been scheduled to close out the project. The team will review what went well, what we learned and what we can improve.
