Nurses are the foundation of healthcare. It is the duty of the foundation to remain solid in order to maintain structure and balance within the system. Nursing competencies are one way to keep the structure solid. The public has the right to encounter nurses who maintain competence and professionalism. It is the responsibility of the nurse to deliver on that expectation.
