In January of 2015, I accepted the opportunity to become a part of BayCare’s healthcare team as a Patient Care Technician. Determined to learn, I moved up in the clinical ladder to a Patient Support Technician after becoming EKG certified within my first six months of employment. I am currently employed with Baycare Mobile Pool.
My nursing career began at Tampa General Hospital's Rehabilitation Center in 2011. Employed as a Patient Care Technician, my primary duty was bedside care for individuals’ who had suffered brain and spinal cord injuries. Initially, I wanted to follow in my mother’s footsteps and become a registered nurse. However, while working, I developed a genuine compassion for the people I was serving.

A nurse is someone who is compassionate, yet capable of setting emotions aside in order to critical think his or her way through a problem. A nurse is someone who can respect their patient’s privacy, personal opinions, values, and beliefs, even if different than his or her own in order to establish effective communication and a therapeutic nurse-patient relationship. A nurse is someone who advocates for his or her patient and vows to deliver optimal care while striving to preserve the patient’s dignity. I believe one of the most gratifying reward of being a nurse is contributing to improving and sustaining one’s quality of life.
I hope to become a part of BayCare’s nursing program so that I can take the next step towards my ultimate goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
