I knew that I wanted to have a career in the medical field due to the opportunity for innovations in health care and the challenges for improvement. It was not until my mother’s struggle with breast cancer that becoming a nurse became my mission. As a young child at my mom's bedside, I would watch her nurses as they took care of her. To me, they were pillars of compassion, strength, and advocacy that inspired me to pursue nursing.

In this regard and for these reasons stated above, I am interested in attending Loyola University for my graduate education. Loyola University offers expert faculty, community outreach programs, and research and networking opportunities as I had the privilege to experience in undergrad at Loyola University. Final Level/Program Reflection I began the nursing program with very minimal nursing knowledge. Throughout the curriculum, I learned the fundamental skills of being a nurse, but my learning went further than skills. The greatest accomplishment I will take away from this program is an improved understanding of what nursing is: facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering, protection and promotion of health, and advocacy for patients, families, and communities. This idea has been discussed numerous times throughout the curriculum, and as I approach graduation, I finally appreciate the meaning of "what is nursing.…

Being a nurse is a difficult job, but the rewards for this can been recognized by the fact that nursing has been ranked as the most trusted profession for over a decade according to gallup polls. I understand that I have an immense amount of responsibility within this field, and I actively choose to honor this by working hard, implementing basic principles of decency within my professional and personal life, and learning from those who have more insight in nursing than I currently do, so that one day I can impart my knowledge onto younger prospective nurses, as well. I consider this educational journey to be more significant than a career choice, but rather a calling to channel my intrinsic values of compassion, dependability, and servitude in a career that saves lives daily.…
