Professional Experience In Nursing

Improved Essays
I aspire to gain professional experience in the field of nursing, because of personal experiences that have led me to select this career. My passion for care-taking within the nursing realm stems from a passion at young age to render aid and experiences very dear to my heart. My care-taking skills began while I was caring for children at church, as an assistant to both the Children’s and Youth Department. When a child would arrive ill, I would make sure that little contact was made with other children to contain the illness. I also made sure the child would wash their hands thoroughly before consuming meals and would take an additional precaution of washing down tables and toys to diminish the spread of germs. Additionally while in high school,

Becoming a nurse was not something I always knew I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to have a career in the medical field due to the opportunity for innovations in health care and the challenges for improvement. It was not until my mother’s struggle with breast cancer that becoming a nurse became my mission. As a young child at my mom's bedside, I would watch her nurses as they took care of her. To me, they were pillars of compassion, strength, and advocacy that inspired me to pursue nursing.…

My nursing practice still holds true to the main reason that I chose to become a nurse, which was because I have an overwhelming love and compassion for helping others in their time of need. It warms my heart to know that I made a difference in someone else’s life by just sitting down and allowing them to talk without interruption. Making patients feel better by giving them a bath with dignity and privacy, or getting them fresh ice water are just little things and may not matter to one person but may be everything to another. According to (Crosta, 2015), Nurses strive to achieve the best possible quality of life for their patients, regardless of disease or disability. When writing my goals in Transition to Professional Nursing, my two years goals were to finish my RN-BSN.…

Personal Philosophy In December of 1992, after graduating with a diploma from Long Beach City College in California, I began my career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Compassion and caring became the cornerstone of my nursing philosophy during my LPN educational track. The Registered Nurse population is encouraged to learn the books and problem solve, while the LPN population was taught to learn the books, but to have an excellent, caring and compassionate bedside manner. In 2007 I received my Associate’s Degree from Cincinnati State Technical School.…

Why do students remember everything that is on television and forget what is taught in lecture? Students’ skills are best improved through practice, but before practice, observation is a key component to learning. For example, even if the students are given the steps on how to perform the return demonstration, they want to see the actual procedure to be more confident that they can accomplish it on their own. Students can use visual media as a way to retain concepts and ideas.…

These include endless hours of studying and assignments, missing my daughter’s practices and concerts and foregoing family gatherings just to make it to this place. Continuing my education will be another way I can maintain pride in my nursing profession. Never stop learning will become my new mantra! I would empower my fellow caregivers by reminding them why they came into the field of healthcare. I wouldn’t allow for “toxic emotional negativity” to interfere with creating a calm, peaceful, healing environment (Tye, 2014).…

Nursing informatics facilitates the integration of the data to support patients, nurses, and providers in all areas and roles of care to make decisions. The likelihood of success with technological, personal or professional life relies solely on understanding one’s own abilities and limitations. Understanding my own competency will enable me to focus on the area of improvement that leads to success. As far as my technological skills are concerned, I would categorize myself into an intermediate or modifier level. This level describes that I have mastered basics and use technology in inventive ways to my practice.…

I have completed a graduate certificate in acute care nursing in 2016, which assisted my practice to evaluate and use the knowledge I gained from this course to manage complex situations and patients in guiding me in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of my evidence based nursing care. I also actively pursue my own professional development by attending different learning experiences such as going to in-services and enrolling to various courses both internally through the hospital and also externally such as conferences, which I believe, would be beneficial in the promotion of safe nursing care relevant to 3 East patients. I also attended mandatory training such as fire safety, manual handling, basic life support and hand…

In the nursing field there are over 100 areas to specialize in. This large quantity of options makes it difficult for a young adult to know what he or she would like to specialize in and work with. There are two major ways to explore and find out where one’s calling may be, clinical experience and shadowing. The shadow opportunity was very enlightening. I was able to learn about a new floor of medicine I was not very familiar with; while shadowing a nationally recognized award winning nurse.…

It is this passion and commitment to providing high-quality health care within the community that fuels my aspiration and desire to become a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) within a community health setting. While I love being a nurse and all that it encompasses, I believe that in the role of a PNP, I will have an even greater opportunity to teach, serve, and treat children and their families within the communities in which they live. In this role, I look forward to truly getting to know the patient as a whole, as well as working on a closer level with both them and their families to implement primary prevention strategies aimed to keep children out of hospitals whenever possible. I have learned throughout the clinical rotations I experienced and even more so through my current job in a clinic, that educating patients and their…

That being said, child care for my son will be one of the biggest complications I will face.…

As beginning nursing students enter into the great unknown of nursing school, taking a major step towards advancing their futures, they can feel uncertain at times. In a pilot study conducted by Margaret G. Williams and Linda L. Burke in 2014, ten sophomore nursing students in introductory level clinical courses at a small, Midwestern university were used as their sample to reflect on their own nursing experiences and report when they felt like they had achieved a professional identity as a nurse. Professionalism in nursing students was defined for the purposes of this case study as the students expressing both competence and confidence in their skills, and beginning to believe for themselves that they are “real” nurses. After the ten students wrote their narratives for the study, a hermeneutic circular approach was taken to analyze their levels of professionalism as nursing students. The results revealed a major recurring theme, which researchers described as “Doing Learning Knowing Speaking”.…

After I had been here for about one year, I recall I found this new confidence in my ability to care for my patients. I had begun to grow an encompassing knowledge of involving the different disciplines and the vast contributions a multidisciplinary approach has on patient care.…
