I chose the topic of this paper to be nonverbal interpersonal communication. The reason why I find this part of communication most interesting is because I think it is amazing the way you can tell things by parts of the body. How they respond to what you’re saying or the looks you give while you are talking to someone. How you can notice what people think of what you’re saying while you’re talking by their looks or gestures. According to research most of our communication levels is nonverbal. Scientific research on nonverbal communication and behavior began with the 1872 publication of Charles Darwin 's The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals. Since then there has been many types of research on what types of nonverbal communication people use. In many cases, we communicate information in nonverbal ways using groups of behaviors. For example, we might combine a frown with crossed arms and unblinking eye gaze to indicate disapproval.
There are many kinds of nonverbal communication that people use, one being facial expressions. I learned about this one when I was young and I would be yelled at for having a displeasing expression while my parents were yelling at me or lecturing me. I learned that at a young age I learned that being bored or not listening showed on my face. We can show shock, surprise, sad, mad, upset and all sorts of feelings by using facial expressions.
