Communication is a key element to almost every aspect of life. Whether it is nonverbal or verbal, everyone utilizes some form of communication. As a business professional, communication can make and/or break business relationships and ultimately determine your future success levels. From my perspective, it is important to have both types of communication; however, I believe that verbal communication outweighs nonverbal communication due to the fact that it is easier to recognize. Based off of the Forbes Magazine article, “How To Communicate Effectively At Work”, by Susan Adams (2013), I was able to pick out two communication strategies that should be adopted in the business world to make businesses more successful. I can apply the strategy of being straightforward to my future career when dealing with employees and co-workers. In Adam’s (2013) view, an individual is better off approaching their co-worker, or another person directly rather than avoiding communication with them. Additionally, the strategy of using positive language and acting in an optimistic way will benefit me greatly in my future profession. It allows for me to build up confidence in my business and myself. Having a positive mindset over a negative mindset will give me the longevity needed to withstand trials and tribulations in the future.
All in all, communication is necessary, but effective communication will bring about success within a business. Face-to-face interaction with others can prove to be a beneficial catalyst for many business-related things, if done in a clear and encouraging way. It gives insight on other peoples’ perspectives, thus giving a business professional the opportunity to grow and become successful in the long
