The Struggle “In high school, I was constantly made fun of. That’s what built my character. That’s what makes you who you are. When you get made fun of, when people point out your weaknesses, that’s just another opportunity for you to rise above” Zac Efron. Growing up, I was not the quiet child. Once high school hit that all changed for me until the day I rose above it and made a change in my life for myself. About two weeks into my first year of high school. I was sitting in my first class of the day, Family and Consumer Science, FCS. The teacher, Mrs. Whitley, placed me into a small group of girls in that class to sit with during class. After a few weeks we had all became friends and accepted each other for our self.
A few months into the school year rumors started floating around the school about me. I was pregnant. I was a whore. I was the one starting all the rumors to get myself attention. I was a lesbian. You name it, it was said about me that year. I was wounded by the words that people were saying to me and about me. I constantly thought to myself how could people could even say things like that about anyone including me. I personally had made so many friends and within a week I had only one that stood by myside. At the end of each day I would come home and go straight to my room. I would call my best friend, Rainin, and tell her what people were saying and just cry to her and tell her all my secrets. By Christmas break she knew my deepest darkest secrets…
