The hardest thing I’ve ever went through? Let me take you back to almost three years ago to a very cold Thursday morning in January. I was sitting in history class when suddenly something very strange happened; the announcement speakers came on. To most people it would seem like it was a very typical day to day event to listen to announcements; but at my school announcements were rarely ever said. My classroom got completely silent; to the point where you could have heard a pin drop. The words that came next were like an explosion and disbelief fell on all of us. “We want to have a moment of silence for a student who is no longer with us. Jonathan died last night and we want to keep his family in our thoughts as we go throughout the rest

Looking back on it, on how I got to where I am. I don't know how i did it, when you run into something ,with the power to knock you down- you get back up! I've considered myself a sort of mellow guy, but I can be very intense. It's funny because you can't tell by looking at me. Most people say they can't read me, but I think i am a fairly simple guy.…

Before high school, I always thought I was an average student, but when I transitioned into high school, people started to point out that I had potential. Anxiety was my first foe. During the beginning of the tenth grade, I had set high expectations for myself and it began to affect my life greatly For instance, after finishing the test, I would think about just one specific question that I thought I completed wrong.…

I was 10 years old. I looked from the edge of the mat, unaware about the endeavor I was about to take the moment my foot touched that mat. I finally decided to walk on, like they had taught me by bowing, it was the first of a near million times I was going to do this. I was a white belt, at the best taekwondo centers in the area. All the kids, stood to the side eerily silent, waiting for instructions.…

Exhilarating: a term making one feel very happy, animated, or elated, would be the perfect word to describe what the day had in store for us eager, and jubilant grade 6 students. A thrilled and luminous smile lit up on my enthusiastic face as I ambled on the same rugged, cracked, gray tinted sidewalk that I had sauntered on everyday for a year. The serene, endless sky was the perfect shade of aqua as the light, silky, radiant clouds formed delicate shapes. The sun was glistening with great luminosity. Suddenly I heard someone screaming my name well not really; it was my nickname, one that really agitated me in an incredibly obnoxious way, “Babikathu wait up”.…

The rest of the year was great to me, I finally saw the rainbow. I gained many new friends and I was/am doing fairly well in my classes. I overcame an obstacle of mine that was really large, and I am proud of myself for doing so. I finally got to see what it looks like when the clouds part. I went from being a stress mess to a straight success (maybe not success yet, but soon).…

Track and field has been the highlight of my high school life. The social aspect, the large assortment of events from which to choose, and the people I met are things I will always treasure. I especially loved the fact that there was always a place for everyone. If you weren’t too quick, then discus was your event. If you could build up quick bursts of speed, long and triple jumps suited you.…

As I went to my first day of school in a new city I was nervous, I didn't know if I was going to make any new friends, if I was going to fit in. The first day began and I immediately met Randy and Byanca, little did I know at the time that they would be my friends for all of my school career. Time went by and so did the grade levels, I would always struggle with one subject and thrive in another. During my elementary and middle school years I would struggle in language arts and history, but I would thrive in mathematics mainly because I love numbers.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

That Day in Fourth Grade “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something you must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. -Glinda” One of my best friends today, Teonna Frye, has influenced a lot of the choices that have made me into who I am today. I first met her as a “not-so-little,” brown-haired fourth grader. She was a giant that towered over all the kids in our grade.…

I remember my days in high school like it was yesterday. My freshman year I didn’t really know anyone at my school because I was new to the area. Once the school year got started I began to make friends and to be known around the school. So as most people say now I look like a basketball player, back in my younger days I used to play all sports like basketball, football, and baseball. So I had decided to try out for the basketball team.…
