"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

Growing up I was always the tallest kid in the class. Whenever class picture day rolled around, I knew that I was in the front of the line because of my height. It was somewhat embarrassing when all the boys were shorter than I, and the girls made me feel bad for how out of place I was. Not only did my height provide social awkwardness, it also administered the constant, never ending struggle of finding garments long enough. Whenever my mom or grandmothers wanted to take me back to school shopping, I made excuses of “I don’t need any more habiliments” or “I do not feel good, all of the sudden…”…

Failure is an event no one wants to go through, but everyone has to go through to grow and prosper as an individual. My freshmen and sophomore year of high school is a time I experience failure. As I transitioned into high school from middle school, I had a difficult time adapting to the environment and work load I had encountered. My parents did not attend school in the United States, therefore, I did not have the support needed to transition into a different environment. Many times, I would feel very discouraged because I would not be doing well in class.…

Looking back, high school wasn’t really all that bad. In fact, the experiences that I went through, whether good or bad, has shaped who I am at this moment. I remember back in freshman year when I thought that high school was going to be the worst four years of my life. As a young middle schooler, I had been warned by various movies such as Mean Girls about the high school life and treated it like a documentary. At that time, I had this idea that everyone in high school was rude, evil, and out to get me.…

The last four years have went so fast that it is hard for me to not to look back after looking forward. These past four years of my high school have been the longest roller coast I have ever ridden. As a child, I was always surrounded by encouraging words from family members, close friends, and church members. They always ensured me "You can be anything that at you want to be." But now that I'm a senior in highschool,I’ve come to realize that the statement comes with terms of conditions attached. People don't actually believe this to be true; they loosely throw around the statement without actually reading first. It wasn't until my High School career that I read the terms of conditions.…

Over the course of my junior high years, there have been some big changes in my life. So much has changed within my family, friends, style, appearance, maturity, height, and who I am as a person. During the final months of my high school journey in Guyana, after my weekend lesson was concluded, my friends and I decided that we would attend the racing park activities and later the bar. Bare in mind that our finals were also upon us for the following day. However, that did not stop us from going. Flashing back to beginning of the day, our classes were long and boring. I always thought I had limits. It all started when my sister and I used to draw human figures when we were both in elementary school. She drew pretty one while I somehow managed to turn mine into Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants. When I asked her how she drew them so perfectly, she merely shrugged and said that she became good when she entered third grade. From then, I waited for the third grade to come.…
