Since graduating from high school my dream of obtaining a college education needed to be postponed for quite some time. It became necessary for me to accept early on that my only education option would exist from the school of hard knocks. Although it wasn’t the school of choice; due to life experiences it resulted as the most sensible option. It became easy to justify placing my college education on hold and I utilized every excuse available. The truth is, the more that time passed by, I began to lose confidence in the ability to succeed. A famous quote by Walt Disney states, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” After many years of raising a family and obtaining a successful career, I’m pleased to announce that I finally established the courage to pursue my dream of a college education. Pursuing this dream is significant as I trust it will increase my self-confidence, set a good example for my daughters and provide me with an expanded knowledge base in my career path. …show more content…
Fortunately, it’s never too late to improve and grow one’s confidence level. Obtaining my college education will instill new skills and characteristics that are necessary to overcome challenges and achieve my goals. While seeking my degree it will provide me with continued growth in addition to improving my communication, planning and decision making skills. In an article titled “Why your college degree has more value than you think” the author states “There is just something about a college grad that makes her stand a little bit straighter and a little bit taller.” I absolutely concur with this statement and feel positive that such skills and knowledge obtained from a higher level of education will allow me to feel more assertive and self-reliant on the inside for the first time in my
