The sound design helped the overall style of film by intensify certain scenes and providing an ambience that helped transition the film along. A) An example of ambience noise was the music track that introduced the title sequence because as the film progresses, this is the same track that is played when the characters are having a positive day. It establishes the setting of a light-hearted relationship between father and daughter and it enhances certain scenes where conflict has happened. Moreover, this ambience track plays whenever children present. B) An example of sound design revealing off-screen action occurs in the beginning of the film when the Valetin is sleeping with …show more content…
He did an outstanding job of delivering a character who I could connect with and understand the struggle he is going through, but at the same time he was able to create a lighthearted atmosphere. The actor has played in several TV Series and films. Eugenio Derbez has stared at the following: Under the Same Moon, No Eres Tu Soy Yo, La Familia P. Luche, The Book of Life, and Miracles from Heaven. The second film that I watched was Under the Same Moon. Both films left a lasting impression about the struggles the protagonist faced. Although in the first film, Eugenio creates a more light-hearted environment, in the second film, he creates a character in which he is a bit more hostile. Therefore, when his character changes into embracing the protagonist, it is more impactful. I think his ability to illustrate the emotions of the character’s in a way that seems really authentic makes his work amazing. In both films, Eugenio Derbez plays the role of a father figure. B) The actor uses his facial expression very effectively because he illustrates the worried and …show more content…
The film is told in a chronological order from the moment that Valetin meets Julie and they have a daughter. A) An example of editing that changes the pace of the action occurs when Maggie is growing up. It begins with Maggie turning two years old. The scenes last a few seconds; therefore, it shows the fast pace of Maggie growing up to seven years old. B) An example of editing that creates tension is when Valetin is told that the treatment has stopped working. Although it is ambiguous as to who the treatment was for, it is later revealed that Maggie had a heart condition. The shot shows Valetin’s face turning into a wolf; which is a symbolism for fear throughout the film. As a result, Valetin has to face his fear of the death of his daughter. C) An example of how editing makes a viewer understand a setting, is towards the end of the film when Valetin and Maggie return back to Mexico. This shot transitioned through a cut edit through their journey back to Acapulco. This edit will then reveal the importance of Valetin returning back to his hometown. D) The last scenes in the film are essential in demonstrating the character’s thoughts and feelings. The reason being that the film is edited in a slow montage, in which the Valetin, Maggie and Julie spend some time in Acapulco. The last scene had a reaction shot that illustrated close up of the all three of the
