When I start attending De La Salle (DLS) I was surprised by the focus on community, an attribute I had never seen in my public middle school. There are different circumstances that influence us to be successful or do well in school, and I believe one of the factors is what kind of school we are attending. Throughout my three years in middle school I lacked the spiritual and the community togetherness, but once I start attending DLS it was something different. I started to see the connections of the community. Attending a Christian school not only gave me knowledge of the Bible and our spiritual strengths, but also helps me to connect more with the community and people that are around me. It give me an environment that makes me feel like

20 Years Ago El Paso High School in El Paso, Texas 8:30 a.m. It was an unusually chilly and foggy day for September in Texas. Millie got out of her white Aleko and grabbed her yellow knit sweater that was draped across the passenger seat. She was reaching for her backpack, which was in the back seat of her car, when the first bell rang. Millie raced across the parking lot, up the concrete steps, and pulled the heavy door to the rustic brick building open.…

If CCMS received one million dollars this is what I would improve the cafeteria, update the 7th and 8th grade wing, and sports. I would improve the cafeteria that way it could hold more people that way we don't have to have 1st and 2nd lunches. I would also improve the 7th and 8th grade wing because it's not really the best. First, I would improve the cafeteria. We need a bigger place to eat because everyone is all bunched up and it's way to crowded plus I think this might help other people that are claustrophobic.…

My TE-100 class went to Barr Middle School in Grand Island, Nebraska and Northeast Elementary in Kearney, Nebraska. Due to a conflict I was unable to attend the Barr Middle School visit and went to Walnut Middle School in Grand Island, Nebraska instead. At Walnut Middle School, I observed Mrs. Coble, the seventh grad math teacher. At Northeast, I observed Mrs. Tobey, a fourth grade teacher. After observing both schools I came to the conclusion that the two schools are very different from one another.…

The setting of my 2nd focus child was a Little Bucs in the preschool room (Inventors) in the classroom, but we did visit the ETSU library during my first observation. They are 48 months-60 months. I observed a 48 month old, male. I will refer to the student I observed as "P." I observed from 10:00-11:30 both sessions. The classroom was reasonably big, but the floor was opened with toys and an upstairs area where the students can go and hang up there.…

Middle and High School Student Perceptions Regarding the Effectiveness of Teacher-Directed Bullying Interventions Introduction School bullying is an important topic in the field of primary education. It is a widely recognized problem for numerous school environments that poses potential detrimental effects if not properly addressed (Aluedse, 2006). Unfortunately, this issue is often shrouded by misinformation and a lack of understanding regarding the long-term impact bullying may produce. It can adversely affect the educational environment, not only for perpetrators, but for victims and witnesses (Casebeer, 2012). Regardless of the individual’s role, trauma may result from repeated occurrences (Carney, 2008).…

Grades- I previously attended Prairie View Middle School from 6th grade up until 8th grade. I think that Prairie View was a good school for me, For the most part I was able to get good grades (about 3.0 or higher) and make a lot of friends. Relationships with my teachers though where a whole other story. 6th grade was when I was able to achieve the best grades. The highest G.P.A. i’ve ever got was a 3.8, and I achieved that in 6th grade.…

Although Wall High School is an accepting environment, I feel as if we do not offer activities that cater to all students abilities and talents. For instance, in regards to this past pep week, I observed that a majority of the events pertain to only students who are athletic. Tug of war requires strength, while the three legged race requires coordination, and the potato sack race calls for jumping skills. These competitions only appeal to those who can take on the task of recreation games. What about the students who are not so comfortable in competing in these events?…

We all are shaped by our experiences in our lives. The most influential experiences that have helped shape me into the person I am today have been my Christian education, my involvement in athletics, and my walk with Christ. When attending a Christian school my life was influenced in many ways. The most significant are the people that I encountered there and the opportunities that I was able to experience. Throughout the years, I have made life-long friends that strive to make me best version of myself and have helped strengthen my personal relationship with Christ.…

Throughout my elementary school years, from grades kindergarten to 5th grade, I attended a small private school in the town that I lived. My school was, Lake Area Christian and though there are some aspects of my time at this school that I regret, there are many things that I am grateful for. Attending such a small school during my earlier years really helped me begin to acclimate with other children on a smaller scale and learn to navigate looking different than other children. The smaller school setting also provided for more teacher on student time and many hands-on activities and field-trips. Additionally, class sizes were very small; during my kindergarten year, there was 20 students and by my final year of 5th grade there was only 9.…

Salisbury High School is a small school with a welcoming environment. Because of its location, surrounded by Allentown School District on all sides, I would expect it to have a more urban feeling, but it feels much more like a suburban school. The atmosphere feels laid back with definite boundaries. In my weeks there, I have yet to witness an act of disrespect or insubordination. The school is clean, bright, well-kept and is rife with school spirit.…

I did my observations at E.W. Grove High School and William Blount High School. Something I found interesting was that both high schools have a night grade only school. The focus on having just a ninth grade program is to get all the students acquainted as a class and being in high school. Both high schools had students who lived on a farm and some that have never experienced farm life.…

On Tuesday, September 15, I videotaped the science lesson that I taught to Mrs. Oliver’s homeroom students. The topic of this lesson was the nervous system, which was a continuation in the “Cells to Body Systems” unit. The lesson objectives were that the students were to describe (knowledge) how the nervous system works together with all other systems in our bodies and to apply (application) their knowledge of the nervous system as they worked cooperatively to complete the nervous system portion of their body systems poster. The students had previously learned about cells, tissue, organs, and six other body systems. This body system taught in this lesson works directly with all of the other systems previously taught.…
