In order to sell a product, one type of strategy that a company uses is advertisements. It is, in fact, quite clever because advertisements are everywhere. Our minds are bombarded with advertisements every day. There appears to be a trend that companies constantly use in order to get consumers to buy their product. Jean Kilbourne states in her "Two Ways A Woman Can Get Hurt" states that, "Men conquer and women ensnare, always with the essential aid of product" (Kilbourne, 445). Advertisements portray men as superior in order to gain consumers. It isn 't a surprise to see an advertisement where misogyny is being encouraged to lure consumers in buying their product. This misogynistic technique has been used for longest time in history. It is safe to say that Reebok fits this behavioral description. This particular advertisement depicts a man with a solid stance. The caption states, "CHEAT ON YOUR GIRLFRIEND, NOT YOUR WORK OUT" (Reebok). In the "Cheat On Your Girlfriend" campaign, Reebok reinforces that acts of sexism is acceptable because that is what allows a man to maintain his masculinity. Reebok succeeds in doing so by making a man feel that his work outs make up a significant portion of his manhood. The second part that allows his to feel greatness is success, in which Reebok products is suppose to produce. Rebook builds a name for their brand which condescends other athletic brands.
