The Las Vegas Natural History Museum
This is not a large museum; the type you would come to expect from the large cities in the United States. But considering that it is located in a city known for its gambling, this museum is surprisingly good.
Some of the highlights of the museum include:
-An African room, where you can see life size replicas of all of the most prominent animals that live in the African savanna.
-A desert animal exhibit. To many people's surprise, there are many different animals that can be found in a desert, and you can see all of them here in this room.
-The also have a large sea life exhibit that includes living marine animals including small sharks and rays.

They constructed the exhibit so you get the feeling you are entering the tomb of King Tut for the first time, the same way the original archaeologists did.
Without doubt, the most popular part of the museum is at the far end of the building where they have their dinosaurs. Although there are few bones to look at, there are dinosaurs created to appear the way paleontologists believe they looked like. In the center of the room are two dinosaurs: A Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Triceratops. They appear to be fighting, and are designed to both move and make sounds. This is a favorite for both adults and children. My children loved this enough that they referred to the Las Vegas Natural History Museum as the Dinosaur Museum.
I come here a couple of times a year, depending upon the nature of their rotating exhibit. During my last visit, the summer of 2016, they had an exhibit that focused on the engineering of the ancient Roman empire.
As long as you don't expect too much from this natural history museum, I think you will enjoy it. You can casually go through the museum and probably see everything in about an hour and a half. It is reasonably priced and not too far away from downtown Las
