Five days later, I received an email from Barbara Hammer on Thursday, who wrote, “The studio safety check was set for today at noon and no one is here. What’s up?” I was startled. I clearly remembered that, three days ago, I received Barbara’s email, saying “I have changed my plans so we CAN meet at my studio next Saturday Nov. 7 from 10-12 for the SKYPE review!” I immediately texted Vicky and she confirmed that we were going to the studio on Saturday instead on Thursday. Communication is absolutely essential for an interdisciplinary teamwork. Last week, I read Interdisciplinary Teamwork: The key for quality care for older adults of R-Miller, which is designed to prepare students and practitioners in the field of aging with the requisite tools to become effective team members and team leaders in order to provide coordinated, comprehensive, and quality care. An interdisciplinary team is composed of a mix of professionals from various disciplines and are often employed by the same organization (R-Miller, 262). In my team, Vicky has expertise in occupational therapy; Maya is Barbara’s assistant and she is also an artist; I am relatively knowledgeable in Arts Administration. In order to build an effective teamwork, the article introduced three basic concepts that need us to understand: team development, team management, and team process. In reality, Vicky, Maya, and I share common goals initially. Despite of the fact that we all have own personalities, we have been collaborating and working interdependently in planning, problem solving, decision-making, and evaluating team roles and functions. We prevent duplication of efforts that also makes an effective cooperation. Overall, this term would be a productive working process for me. I benefit a lot from lectures and presentations every week and team members provide energy and synergy to each other while we are studying together. I am looking forward to continually working with them and studying with other Art Cart members next
