Integration into the workplace is a process people go through from High level to entry level positions. The process is made by the employee and aided by co-workers and management, to hopefully make your integration a positive experience. This case study will focus on integration into the VFX industry as an entry level position like a Technical Director. Luft Describes Essential skills as “skills that enable people to do their work”. (Luft, 2005, p.3). being able to recognise the skills that enable people to do their job and skills that help you achieve the tasks given to you will greatly help your road to Integrating to the VFX workplace. Integration is often willingness to change environments and adapting to a new medium of work and how you interact with people around you. Essential skills are needed as willingness to cooperate and create a positive work environment. They help people do their work and makes integration must smoother than trying to enter a toxic workplace where you do not feel welcome or cannot share with others and vice versa. An example of why essential skills are needed in today’s workplace, Essential skills are becoming part of the requirements for jobs over many industries. Starting out as an entry level worker you are still required to have some form of essential interpersonal skills that allow you to function in a workplace environment. Having skills like being empathetic toward co-workers and understanding their mental state as to know how to help them and bond and strengthen workplace relationships through this. Being able to communicate ideas, share resources with co-workers and adapt to changes in techniques and methods, helps you to be a flexible worker that is reliable and can integrate into new situations better. Being able to remain organized as to keep the workplace environment positive and the pipeline smooth. Greatly helps the way people view you and your work, as working in a team environment with many people reaming organized and harmonized with your colleagues. Finally, being to see the workplace and understand what is going to happen next and what you need to do for that to happen, having the foresight and anticipation to act on this.
