When I worked on my Eagle project, I had to communicate between my troop, the homeless shelter I was working for, the people I was buying supplies from, and the people who were helping me raise funds. I had never built a patio or barbeque area, nor had I refurbished a bench before, so I took careful notes from both a contractor and a handyman to ensure I did it right. To get the project approved, I wrote a 14-page proposal, and then raised $1000. Then, due to an irremovable deadline, I ended up doing the project the same week as my SAT and all three of my AP tests. It was one of the most mentally and emotionally draining challenges I had in my life, and not everything went smoothly.…

From a young age, like the author, high expectations have been placed upon me, and vigorous measures were taken by my parents to ensure that the best education was available to me. Because I was expected to be a high functioning student, the vision my parents had of me allowed them to shape me into what they had envisioned. But, like the author's situation, the doors for success were opened for me, yet I had to be the one to walk through those doors. There comes a point where age and independence takes over my mind as I was less privy to the words of my parents. During this time, personal accountability is now the driving factor of success.…

This has been actually one of my best weeks so far, week 6. The topics were linear equations and non linear equations and I was able to remember about them so this time my brain was not that disconnected as normally is with algebra which made me happy. Do not get me wrong, I still had to read multiple times some sections that caused a little confusion, but again it was not that bad and at the end everything came back to me, this time it was a lot easy for me to figure out some of the book samples, except of course the ones that had multiple fractions I am still under pressure with those.…

After keeping track of my time for a few days I have discovered that I spend my free time more leisurely. I was surprised how much time I spend on leisurely activities as opposed to planning to complete my task. For example, I finished school in the mid afternoon, and instead of starting on my homework right away, I sat down and watched TV for a little while. I felt like the extra time I was given I was able to do stuff that I felt I benefited from, but felt less productive doing it. However on days I have divided my time into things I have planned, I find I get my task done quicker and more efficiently.…

In his article, “Stop Infantilizing Students,” Wiltold Zombrowski says that parents and teachers should stop treating students as they are infants. In order to encourage students to actually attend classes teachers should stop posting class lessons online. Teacher should also avoid sending out reminders, to teach our students how to become more responsible. Zombrowski’s position is unreasonable and should be opposed. Three reasons why parents and teachers stopping to help out students is a bad idea include the ideas that posting the class lessons online is beneficial in giving students a resources to look at while not in the class room, having in class assignments gives the teacher a chance to know if his or her students actually understand what’s being taught, and if teachers continue to post reminders online about assignments it will ensure students can plan their time more beneficial knowing what is more urgent.…
