The opportunity I chose for my the civic engagement project was to team up with United Way of Bay County and do a food drive that was a part of “Feeding your Neighbors Food Drive.” I chose this opportunity after going to a few different places because I felt I could make the biggest impact. Seeing many people come out on a beautiful October day to donate made me smile. Throughout the day we filled many boxes and many boxes were already filled by outside donations at different locations. All the food that was donated made me feel like we were making a huge impact in our society; therefore, it made collecting food donations my favorite part of my project. Another part of my civic engagement project that I liked was getting everything ready for the main event. I really got to take the lead on this project; I decorated the front window of United Way so the children that came to the event could get a picture in front of it. I also made materials that were part of the Halloween Duo event: certificates, raffle items, and goodie
