know exactly what I was in for. Boy oh boy was I wrong about that! Going through these classes has taught me to expand my mind and discover my deep thoughts and ideas. Most importantly I have learned how valuable language and writing are.
We all grew up learning how to read and write almost everyday. It was and still is a necessity in day to day doings. How would someone be able to stop at a stop sign without being able to read the word Stop on it? How would someone know how long to cook chicken for if they cannot properly read the instructions written? How would someone know the details of an important article in a newspaper without being able to translate the writing to their understanding? Every single person on this planet needs writing and language understanding, even if they are from a different country and learn a different language. These are all concepts I think about on a daily basis.

Words tell so much more than a story. The usage of certain words and they way they are placed show how experienced the writer is and what kind of story they are truly telling. You have to look past all the letters, words, and sentences. What is the author trying to get at? What has he/she been through? Why are they telling it a certain way? What is the moral of the story? These are some questions I would ask myself during readings. By writing about what we learn or what we believe in, we are teaching ourselves how to express
