I know what many of us are thinking, we are happy summer has finally arrived. Warmer weather, no rain (hopefully it all came in May), cookouts, vacations, no school, and many other activities. Summer seems as a time when we can take a 3 month long break before we kick back into gear in the fall. I would agree, summer is a time to relax and give thanks (I too am making summer plans) but I know sometimes God has other plans for us. On Pentecost Sunday, we talked about how the Holy Spirit lights a fire within each of us and I see, I am sure you will see as well within this newsletter, the Spirit continues to burn at Bethany with a variety of opportunities to live out our faith. While we may be taking a vacation from everyday life, the Spirit is alive and continuously active in the world around us. We, as God’s called beloved children of this Spirit, continue to live out our call from God. I ask you to read further into this newsletter to see some of those Spirit filled endeavors which Bethany will be taken a part of but I will highlight some which I am excited most about.
Bible Studies: As we are reminded in our baptism, God continues to teach us as we grow deeper in our faith. It doesn’t matter if you are 9 months or 99 years old, God still has something to teach us. Our regular Sunday School group will be taking a break for a couple of months as we decide what our next subject to study.
