I know what many of us are thinking, we are happy summer has finally arrived. Warmer weather, no rain (hopefully it all came in May), cookouts, vacations, no school, and many other activities. Summer seems as a time when we can take a 3 month long break before we kick back into gear in the fall. I would agree, summer is a time to relax and give thanks (I too am making summer plans) but I know sometimes God has other plans for us. On Pentecost Sunday, we talked about how the Holy Spirit lights a fire within each of us and I see, I am sure you will see as well within this newsletter, the Spirit continues to burn at Bethany with a variety of opportunities to live out our faith. These events, held on the 2nd Saturday of every month this summer->June 11, July 9, and August 13, will be a time of fun and faith. We hope you join us for study, games, going green, and food; what is not love about that!!! Our Synod will also be hosting a few events this summer which are a lot of fun, even for Lutherans. Lutheran Day at Kennywood (July 18th): This is in partnership with SW Penn Synod where you can have fun at Kennywood and then participate with a worship service in the evening with our brothers and sisters of SW Penn. Lutheran Day at the Curve (July 24): Pastor has become a big fan of the Curve since coming to Altoona and our synod host an annual Lutheran Day at the Curve. This is a fun time had by all as we tailgated at the Synod office and then carpooled to the baseball field. I think it would be really fun to have a group of Bethany Lutherans cheering on the Curve this year. They will also be having fireworks (I think they heard Lutherans like fireworks) which will add some extra fun. I went to both of these events last year and it was not only fun but great to meet other Lutherans. We will also be having a Community Cookout celebrating the Jefferson Park Project on June 11th. We hope to join us for what will be a fun time in celebrating one of the many projects trying to improve our
