Homework Should Be Taught In Schools Essay

Would you allow your child to fail a class just because of too much time with extracurricular activities? I think the students should have a limit to how many activities they can participate in. It prevents failing grades, teaches to take on responsibility for something, and gives someone the chance to enjoy their childhood. Failing grades is something no parent wants for their children. If a student is spending too much time on an extracurricular activity their grades could be effected. A student wants to play soccer, mid season they begin to fail math because instead of studying, they are practicing. The school should have limits to how many activities a student can take part in to insure good grades.

Should The Bar Be Risen RE:" Time to raise the bar in high schools," written by Jack O' Connell Raising the high school standards can increase the problem solving skills and communicating skills. This is a topic I can see as a positive change. Unless the standards are to high and could seem unfair. Having the standards raised for high school and accomplishing high standards student would seem more competitive for the real world. In source 1 paragraph 5 some schools just like MVRHS sports are their religion and in this high school the principle would whether pay big money to sports than to school's funds. In paragraph 6 in source 1 the kids at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School have to wake up very early like at 6:00 or 6:30 to get to school so the atheletic could have their classes and this cause the half of the student body to very tired which cause depression from the lack of sleep. Someone once said “ Don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when you’re done.” This is relevant because even though the athletes are tired they have to keep pushing to strive to do what they love yet continue to get good grades. Athletes need to keep getting good grades while attending school. First, the athletes are representing the school they go to. Second, scholarships will come easier for them with good grades and good effort in sports.…

For example on my busiest day, Wednesday, I sometimes have to do writing assignments that are supposed to be at least four sentences long and I only write four sentences. This leaves more time for my other school work and my youth group. In a new national survey done by the U.S. Census Bureau it was discovered that fifty-seven% of students aged 6 to 17 have at least one extracurricular activity in which they participate. They only have enough time to do the minimum school work assigned so they can go to their activities. Their grades in other classes might go down if they do greater than the minimum amount of work required in one class because of their limited time.…

Windy- I too feel passionate about student involvement in extracurricular activities. Looking back to my schooling, some of the best lessons were learned through sports, clubs, and activities. I know the curriculum is valuable, however; it isn’t everything when it comes to lessons learned. If we use the valuable time we have with our students appropriately, the school day shouldn’t be extended.…

I think high school should not continue the sport program because student don’t study went they have to and they all are into sport . My first reason is that student get bad grade and they end up fail all the class and they are also left behind from study and other activities and that impact their career and school and as “one of the article say so that U.S.A spend most of the tax money in the sport than education. ”also the price of the high school sport is going up every year because of the injuries.…

Picture this, a kid standing on the stage at Julliard. The kid is crying because they are so proud of the performance that they just put on for their audience. Having arts education can be the reason that some kids go to school everyday. Many high schools are not requiring art classes every year of high school. While art classes may not be the most important subject, there are many reasons why they need to be required throughout high school.…

Today people in society are often perceive people who are getting good grades like A’s or for being on the honor role as nerds or geeks, but later in life they are more likely to become more successful than people who bullied them. This issue is based movies were the kid is bullied because of his grades, but when he gets older he owns a company. While the bully is stuck with a bad job. This issue is wrong because if a kid gets A’s doesn't necessarily make them into a nerd or a geek. On top of that the bully may not get good grades in the future he can make the same amount of money as the “nerd”.…

Abstract One of the questions that has been asked countless times is why most are if not all extracurricular activities at our middle and high schools are being taken away. After school programs have been very strategic in helping young people find their talent, career choices and so much more (Durlak, 2007). Football, basketball, band and dance are just a few of the activities that kids have to choose from when it comes to participating in their school activities. According to the San Diego Police department and also a few other Police departments, they have reported that the number of kids that participate in extracurricular activities are less likely to commit a crime (Afterschool Alliance, 2007).…

Children that aren’t involved with sports often have a lot of free time that they can use to get in trouble or be lazy and not complete their work on time. When students value participating in sports, they work hard academically to maintain a "playable" GPA"I can 't do my work, I can 't play sports." (DeMeulenaere ). Athletes must have good grades in order to participate in sports. Athletics is what encourages many children to…

Student today I feel lack a direction and feel like school has betrayed. Schools have betrayed students in that school make very obvious that school is not real life. School does not help students grow, but rather what they do outside of school will. The problem America schools are facing is that students feel the need to not work hard and would rather blame their failure on outside forces. I believe public school at the high school level should have students play a sport or do something with art/music all year long.…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

This could be something deliberate in order to make a point that the benefits and advantages to these activities greatly out weigh any costs, if there are any to find. This leads into the purpose of this research, which is to explore more about the effects of extracurricular activities and if there is a connection to be found to positive academic outcomes, to suggest measures that may be taken to encourage student’s involvement in these activities. Parents, teachers, and administration should influence student involvement in extracurricular activities. Parents can allow students to stay after school even if it means they arrange their schedule.…

It is also needed in order to meet international education standards.
