Healthcare Interview Experience Paper

The Bluford Healthcare Leadership Institute (BHLI) has shown me that there is more to the healthcare industry than the physician, the nurse, or the pharmacist. This is a healthcare leadership institute, but at the same time we learn to be leader in other areas that we normally wouldn’t think about concerning ourselves with. The healthcare industry is made up of everyone form the chief executives to the custodians. In this day and age, the healthcare industry is highly integrated with technology not only with the medical equipment, but also with patient medical records, prescriptions, and drug dispensing. It can be a learning experience to a path of your enlightenment that will lead you to where you want to be. The most important concept for me to take away from my experience is that everything matters. Everything and everyone needs to be taken into account. It isn’t always about the interactions. Sometimes it’s the non-interactions. First impressions are extremely important and an insightful could gather a lot of information about some from just a first impression whether it is right or wrong. While working on interviewing skills, we saw first-hand what a first impression could do to the entire situation. I also learned the importance of researching the company and the culture of the company that you are interviewing for. The cultural aspect is probably the most important because if you don’t fit the culture of that company, then you job can become miserable and it becomes difficult for you to stay. Going on the “The City You Never See” bus tour with Sister Berta and going to the behavioral health site tours were both humbling experiences. I already knew that I had it pretty good in my life, but the bus tour and site tours really gave me an upfront experience to how terrible people have
