A Life Review Interview with Lou Pitt
Introduction
I interviewed Mr. Lou Pitt for my Life Review Interview paper. Lou was born in 1946, he is 70 years old. Although Lou’s biological age is 70 years old, he lives an extremely active lifestyle and often identifies himself as being much younger than he is. Lou believes that his Perceived age is 56 years old. According to Cavanaugh and Blanchard-Fields, 2015, “Perceived Age refers to the age you think of yourself as. The saying “You’re only as old as you feel” captures perceived age” (pg.15). Lou’s parents were Mr. Salvatore and Mrs. Emily (Musella) Pitt. Both of his parents were born in Brooklyn, New York. Lou’s mother Emily is still living while his father passed away only a few months ago.

Growing up in a blue collar neighborhood, Lou emphasized the simplicity of the activities he did for fun as a child. Lou spoke in detail about his memories of playing sports and his love for going outside. He remembers being spoiled as a young boy due to being the first born throughout his immediate and extended family. “Being older at the birth of one’s first child is advantageous. Older mothers are more at ease being parents, spend more time with their babies, and are more affectionate, sensitive, and supportive to them” (Berlin, Brady-Smith, and Brooks-Gunn, 2002 as cited in Cavanaugh and Blanchard-Fields, 2015, p. …show more content…
Growing up with both his parents and grandparents, Lou feels that he learned the importance of being responsible at a young age. Having many responsibilities and good role models around the home as a child is what Lou feels shaped him into having the work ethic that he had throughout his adult life. Aside from attending PS17 elementary school in Yonkers, New York, Lou was also responsible for tending to his family 's large garden, and taking care of the lawn. Lou admired both his father and grandfather as a child for the beliefs that they instilled in him. He was always taught to respect not only his elders but everyone, and have a strong work ethic. Throughout his childhood, Lou struggled with school and found that the classes he enjoyed the most were those that allowed him to be hands-on. Lou remarks on how he had always been mechanically inclined as a child. It came to me as no surprise Lou’s response when I asked about his favorite book as a child. He stated that he had always loved Lee Iacocca 's book about how he turned around the Chrysler company when it was in jeopardy. Lou’s responses to my interview questions remained consistent and it was clear to me that his answers were genuine.
When asked about family traditions, Lou explained how fortunate he feels to have grow up in a traditional Italian household. Although his family did not attend many vacations due to finances, he still shares

Big Mama Documentary Analysis – Tracy Seretean, filmmaker The 2000 documentary Big Mama covers an 18-month span chronicling the battle an 89-year-old grandmother, Viola, has in keeping her grandson, Walter, out of the foster care program. Walter’s mother was an addict who delivered him while she was under the influence, only to disappear completely from his life shortly after. Subsequently, while on his deathbed, Walter’s father, begged his mother to take care of Walter, though it would seem that Viola was unable to secure custody of Walter immediately following the death of her son. As a fifty-four year old senior, there have been many times that I have been reminded of my age, none so glaring as when I was asked to condense those years into 3 paragraphs. I was born on October 12th, 1962, right between the Bay of Pigs incident and President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. I was born on Hamilton Air Force Base in California, a place which no longer exists. I wonder how many people can appreciate that. Over the years I have heard people say, you can’t go home, or it’s not like you remember.…
