Health Care Report on Neonatal Nurses Neonatal nursing is a specialized area of nursing that works with newborn infants who are born with different health problems like; prematurity, birth defects, infection, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems. The first month of life is known as the neonatal period for newborns, which is where the practice got its name. These newborns are often sick for months. Neonatal nurse jobs involve care for those infants who experience problems after birth, but it also includes care for infants who experience long-term problems related to prematurity or sickness after birth. Most neonatal nurses care for infants from the time of birth until they are released from the hospital. (National Association of Neonatal Nurses) Neonatal nurses follow the same code of ethics as all nurses which was established by the American nurses Association, according to the American Nurses Association (ANA), “individuals who become nurses are expected to adhere to the ideals and moral norms of the profession and also to embrace them as a part of what it means to be a nurse. The ethical tradition of nursing is self-reflective, enduring, and distinctive. The goal of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) is to enable neonatal nurses to lessen suffering and protect, promote and restore health to infants and their families.
