1. What is the name of the Health Care career/profession that you want to pursue?
Briefly describe the Health Care career/profession that you have selected, in terms of function, education, training, and California licensure requirements, the medical diagnosis or disorders normally treated by this Health Care career/profession and the specific treatment interventions.
Pediatric nurses take care of children up to 18 or 21 years of age and provide preventative and critical care. Pediatric nurses give developmental screenings, immunizations, prescribe medication, and treat common illnesses like chicken pox and tonsillitis. In addition, they also educate patients’ parents how to prevent childhood diseases, and about proper nutrition for growth

The motivation of Health Care providers is the person’s affinity towards children and seeing their patient’s lives prosper and grow. Taking care of people has always been a passion of mine. When I went to a medical brigade trip to Nicaragua and spent time with children it sparked my passion and motivation to pursue a career in Pediatric Care.

Care career/profession?
Where are you going to obtain the education and training needed for this Health Care career/profession? Also discuss the requirements of time and money.
Health Care professionals obtain their education and training at accredited four-year colleges, community colleges or private schools. Health Care professionals also volunteer, or intern at hospitals or clinics. I will achieve my Health Science degree at CSUEB and then transfer to a private school for my certificate/diploma in an ABSN program or master’s program preferably at Samuel Merritt. The program is an extensive 12 month program with tuition starting at $65,000.

When you become a Health Care professional where do you want to work in terms of facilities and geography?
Pediatric nurses work in doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals, surgical centers, in schools, in private practice and for community groups and other organizations. I would like to work in a hospital or clinic in the Bay Area. I would love to volunteer in third world countries and provide care for the unfortunate people and children who need medical aid.
6. How does this Health Care career/profession impact the Health Care professional’s family and personal life, short-term and long-term?

Nurses face many challenges at work that produces stress such as risk of contracting infectious diseases, death of child/patients, and dealing with stressed parents. Long hours and stressful work will take time out of my personal life and family time. I would have to make sacrifices and balance out time for personal and family time; however, it would help me in being able to support my family in the long
