The career in healthcare that I’m interested in pursuing will be Medical assistant. This career is really interesting to me because being a medical assistant is being able to help people that need special care and support, also I will be able to work duties at medical offices and clinics.

Depending upon your preferences, you may choose to earn a certificate or diploma in as little as 9 to 12 months, or an associate 's degree in 18 to 24 months. You could become a medical assistant with only a high school diploma or GED, however you will not have the same opportunity as if you had a certificate. The more training and experience you are the more hirable you become. I want to earn an associate 's degree, it will be longer but worth it. Some of the courses that are required to take to become a medical assistant are anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, as well as typing, accounting, and insurance processing. Also Students learn laboratory techniques, clinical and diagnostic procedures, pharmaceutical principles, medication administration, and first aid. They study office practices, patient relations, medical law, and ethics. They attempt to do the right thing, even when it may be hard to do. It is important to be honest for the safety of the patient. Also, being competent and reliable is an important quality because you are expected to get your job done correctly and efficiently. That is how you will gain the trust and respect from your co-workers. Humility is also an important and needed quality for this career, not being afraid to speak up when something is wrong and making sure to ask for help when needed. Stress Tolerance is a really important trait, A clinic can get really busy. Patients come to facility in need of care, and there will always be a lot of paperwork to maintain, and it can make you go crazy. The everyday stresses that all of these situations can cause requires a strong, tolerant person to effectively handle each and every one. Effective communication is also a really good quality for this healthcare career, re-explaining what the doctor said for a better understanding to the patient. Having good communication skills will make you able to help the patients on how to take care of themselves from home because it can be critical. Communication is one of the areas that I feel like I need to develop more. I am a shy, timid person and talking is not my favorite thing.
