I have been interested in working in the health care field since I was a little girl. Originally I wanted to become a Pediatrician, but I changed my career path as I learned about all of the different opportunities available in the health care field. I 've worked as a medical assistant for the past five years and I am certain that I made the right choice by choosing a career in this field. I would like to advance in my career and continue to make a difference in the lives of the patient 's that I interact with. Although I enjoy working as a medical assistant, I would like to dedicate more time to patient education to disease prevention. I can also gain additional certification with the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Incorporation. By taking the Certified Health Education Specialist Examination (CHES) I will gain national accreditation as a health educator. After passing the examination, I would have to complete seventy-five hours of continuing education during a five year period to maintain the certification ( National Commission for health Education Credentialing, 2015). I will have my Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Science, obtained from Kaplan University, and also have passed the CHES and gained national certification as a health educator. I will have implemented a program that teaches diet and fitness tips for children diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. I will also be working in partnership with the Oakland County Health Department on creating more advanced fitness programs in elementary schools and supplying healthier lunch choices. In addition, I will be making bi- monthly visits to local elementary and secondary schools, holding assemblies to promote healthy
