Once the underlying issues become intolerable to the aggressor, the situation escalates and they generate a plan to either harm others or themselves. This plan is normally executed using a weapon in the case of mass murders. These events occur in many different places. The aggressor chooses a place that links them to the source of their problems. For example, in the case of Columbine, the aggressors shot up the school that victimized them. The people that bullied them attended this school which made it the perfect place for retaliation. In the case of the Orlando shooting, the aggressor picked a night club in which his secret lover was known to attend frequently. Pulse nightclub was for homosexual individuals which links back to the issue of hate crime. The combination of anger toward the former lover and the hate for homosexuals made this place a perfect target for the shooter. Since suicides are primarily about blaming themselves they tend to be more private. Data from Harvard School of Health shows that about 85 percent of suicides occur at home ("Guns & Suicide", 2017). This is consistent with the expectations of a person who believes they are a burden and serve no purpose in society. Dying in the house reduces the chance of publicity and allows a more intimate way of passing in a comfortable place.
