Evaluating The John Malkovich Commercial By T-Mobile

Super Bowl 51 was packed with commercials. Some commercials were funny and others I disliked completely. I did not see all the commercials due to bathroom breaks and refreshments, but the two commercials that stood out the most was the John Malkovich commercial by Squarespace and Justin Bieber by T-Mobile. I will only evaluate the ones I did actually see. I enjoyed the Squarespace commercial the most and the T-Mobile commercial the least.

When I evaluate the ads in terms of quantitative marketing research, I feel every commercial did a good job. The majority of commercials I saw had at least one famous person and a message they wanted to tell the consumer. I would likely give them all an A for effort. On the other side of things, what I like and dislike is subjective. It all comes down to how I feel towards the famous person used in the ads. Let me start with the least favorite commercial by T-Mobile. The reason why I dislike this commercial is because of Justin Bieber. He started off from nothing, moved up to be a superstar and has forgotten where he came from. Therefore, I

I thought it was funny and was executed perfectly. I have seen Malkovich’s movies and I like him as an actor, mostly because of his humor. He definitely has a loud and unique voice. I can tell it is him even when he performs voice acting. I found the commercial to be humorous even though he was mostly upset and screaming at the audience because someone else had taken the domain johnmalkovich.com. Although I have never heard of Squarespace, Malkovich definitely drew my interest. After a little digging, I discovered that Malkovich had actually been in that situation as portrayed in the commercial. Someone had taken that domain and he wanted it for his men’s clothing line. It is very interesting and gives more meaning to the commercial. It is unlikely that I will ever use Squarespace but I know about it now because of an actor I

This Sunday during the Superbowl I watched the commercial Puppy-Monkey-Baby. The commercial was about 30 seconds long. It started with a creature with the lower half of a baby the torso of a monkey with the tail of course and the head of a Pug. The baby lets call it was holding a bucket full of ice with three mountain dew kick starts in it. The baby walked up to three men and started singing Puppy-Monkey-Baby while licking one of their faces.…

This fallacy utilizes a person to present an argument on a certain topic, but that person is not actually a credible authority on that subject. Rob Lowe is an actor, but occasionally being on TV does not make you an expert on TV service providers. Another fallacy in this commercial is the false dilemma fallacy. A false dilemma is when a limited number of options are given, but there is at least one other option. This commercial only presents you with the option to choose DirecTV or cable.…

My favorite Superbowl commercial, was the Prius commercial. Mainly because it reminds me of one of my favorite movies, The Blues Brothers. My favorite part especially was at the end when all the cop cars were really close together, and the car put on the breaks automatically, then they just swerved their way through the cop cars because the cops were sleeping. Also, I know it had to do with three very illegal things, robbing a bank, stealing a car, and running from a police chase, but oh well. If anything that commercial will inspire people to get a Prius than it would to rob a bank.…

The celebrities in the commercials enforce Apple’s credibility as they use Apple products themselves. The more important fact is that they have become a name brand, and they are deeply ingrained in our society. Commercials are a way to persuade an audience to want something. For example, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton used commercials to convince the people watching to vote for them. Both authors were running for president of The United States of America. The commercial, “The Clinton Way” was made by Future45 and Donald Trump to show that Hillary Clinton has a bad character. This commercial was a shorter video used to get the idea across of why Donald Trump will be better even though nothing was said about Trump.…

Of all the 2016 Super Bowl commercials, the commercial I have concluded the most effective is the Hyundai commercial with Kevin Hart. However, effective is a subjective word in this case, but the criteria used in my perspective of it is that the commercial created a connection with the viewer, was able to be memorable, and set itself apart as more than “just a product”. Through a mix of storytelling, playfulness, and outrageous acts; Hyundai was able to achieve and surpass those criteria. The first thing that many people, from peers to big companies, pointed out about the Hyundai commercial was Kevin Hart. Hart is an extremely recognizable star for his hilarious comedy and his playful personality.…

The Super Bowl is one of the substantial events of the year. Not only is it a program action packed with football, but, it is also a showcase for some of the most stellar commercials of the year. An advertisement in the Super Bowl costs several million dollars because the Super Bowl is often the most viewed television production globally. Therefore, companies work exceptionally hard to construct their most effective, passion-filled advertisement of the year. They aim to captivate the audience through rhetorical devices such as emotional appeals, humor, uniqueness, etc.…

Some of the commercials that I observed were Ford commercials, Tide, Purina dog food, Natural Made: Vitamin D3, American Express, Discover Card, Star Trek: Beyond on Blu-Ray and DVD, Moto Droid, AT&T IPhone 7, Enbrel (for plaque psoriasis), The Dr. Strange movie, Fantastic Beasts movie, and The Arrival movie, and a political commercial from Fortune45, criticizing the Clinton family. When I look at the list of advertisers, I can conclude that the target audience in terms of advertisements, is geared toward young to middle-aged men, who are techies, and into comic books and Sci-Fi films. The Natural Made: Vitamin D3 is a nice touch as well, considering natural vitamin D is gained from exposure to the sun, considering techies are always indoors, that furthers my theory about whom the target market is. Also, with regards to the credit card commercials they aired, it leads me to believe that they were trying to advertise to people in the mid-range socioeconomic status, most likely, your average American. The majority of the actors in these commercials, matched the target audience, in their 30s and white.…
