Neiman Marcus is dedicated to serving surrounding communities and being “all heart” in and outside of the office. This encourages corporate social responsibility and a serving nature within the company. Prospective employees who do not demonstrate the qualities and abilities to serve are not selected for employment. Philanthropy is a big part of Neiman Marcus’s identity, and this encourages ethical behavior through out the organization by promoting service and constantly giving employees opportunities to serve surrounding communities. To keep encouraging this behavior and service atmosphere, we suggest that Neiman Marcus have two service projects that they consistently do each year. When Julie Drew worked at Neiman Marcus Direct in the summer of 2014, there was no formal training or ethical awareness training. New and temporary employees are not as aware of ethical dilemmas as top managers are who have had more experience with the company and the industry. At Macy’s Department Store, each employee, temporary or not, all go through a training session upon being hired (macysjobs.com). This establishes the company’s values and ethical policies early on, and this further fosters its ethical culture. We recommend that all employees, temporary and permanent, should have to undergo ethical training. Even though these employees at Neiman Marcus are temporary, formal ethical training could go a long way in making sure that each and every employee knows how important Neiman Marcus’s values are in every day business processes and decisions. It would heighten their ethical awareness and encourage ethical
