One of the reasons I want to go to medical school is for the opportunity to learn from bright, experienced individuals who are passionate about medicine. For this reason, my first priority is to attend a medical school committed to graduating top-notch physicians who can navigate challenges with a confidence bolstered by their training. This training extends beyond the acquisition of knowledge to include a variety of personal traits such as honesty, integrity, respect, and most importantly, self-discipline. My friends and colleagues know me as a hard worker who is more intrigued with leading by example than being the guy in charge. For me, this starts with self-discipline. My goals dictate my actions, which in turn dictate my ability to treat others with respect and compassion. I believe that a physician who exhibits leadership does so through these traits. …show more content…
In the past few years, I have accomplished many of my goals, from releasing original music to earning straight A’s in my pre-medical studies. Organization has been the key to my success. When MCAT preparation classes were too expensive to afford, I created my own 12-week study plan and stuck to it. Although busy with work, school, and running a record label, my strict but flexible schedule reflected my priorities. I woke up at the same time every day and tackled my daily tasks. I stayed at my restaurant job where I worked nights, leaving the daytime free for studying and running my business. A healthful diet and vigorous exercise helped me to maintain a mental outlook tempered by optimism and realism. What began as a 12-week study plan has become more like a way of life.
