There are different types of traveling. We travel for vacationing and sight seeing, we travel because we want to get away from our daily routine, we travel to see our loved ones, to escape cold weather, to escape war and tyrant rulers, to look for a better life. Lots of stumbling blocks and doubts prevent them from acting on that human desire to explore. Many think they could never afford it or think that it would interrupt their college and career plans. Some would rather just fantasize about doing it later in life. These ideas frequently stop young people from seeing more of the world, and they end up missing out in huge ways. Although young people often think that travel is too expensive, a career hindrance, and something to push off until late, it can be done in all kinds of relatively inexpensive ways that provide rich experiences to enhance career potential.…

When I was nineteen years old life was pretty hard in Ireland. It was not like you think it is today where many people go for vacation to rest and see the beautiful land. There was an law passed long before I was born that took many rights from our Irish people like voting, being able to defend ourselves with weapons, receiving an education, and enrolling in colleges, gaining employment. Because of the many rights that were taken away there was forced military service among our men leaving young mothers without fathers for their children, famine which is not enough food for everyone and many people died, too many people where in the country and many of them without jobs, and religious persecution which means we were not allowed to practice our beliefs without consequences.…

John Conroy’s Belfast Diary: War as a Way of Life is an example of how an outsider can provide reliable analysis regarding how communal violence has consumed Northern Ireland. Through his detailed descriptions of paramilitary organizations and the “law and order” of Belfast, Conroy provides a unique journalistic viewpoint of an area often plagued by inaccurate examinations. Therefore, I disagree with the statement that outsiders are always ill-equipped to provide an explanation for communal tension. Rather, I argue that by living within the Belfast ghetto community, Conroy was able to recognize the complexities of life in Northern Ireland, resulting in him providing an accurate explanation for the violence that plagued the Belfast community.…
