Outside forces affects business greatly. Below is an analysis of the environmental forces that have affected and are affecting Chick-fil-A on a daily basis:

Competitive 1. Constantly competing with other fast food chains that may offer variety and sit-down restaurants. 2. Without the substitutes there could be potentially harmful lost profits. 3. Restaurant owners feel the pressure to provide better quality and better prices then their competitors, because of the economy. 4. Consumer mega shift by how consumers are being more precautions of the portions and where they buy they foods. 5. Consumer decision making is based in the influence generated through chain restaurants on mass advertising on social media.

Economic 1. As consumer income decreases, consumer may spend more on fast food than sit down restaurants. 2. Recessions, inflation and other economic factors play a major role in fast food restaurants. 3. The U.S. economy is currently in a deep recession with massive layoffs throughout most major industries with the March 2009 unemployment rate at 8.5 percent 4. The average 2015 household income in Vernon Hills was $92,201. 5. In April of 2015 the unemployment rate in Lake County is 4.5%. 6. The price of food prices are expected to rise between 0.0 and 1.0 percent in 2017 according to USDA.

Social Culture 1. Recruiting people who don’t accept the culture. 2. Energy and water in existing restaurants, and cup recycling. 3. About 71% of the population of Vernon Hills is white alone. 4. Consumers want to know about the ingredients that restaurants are using. 5. Employees in Vernon Hills, IL have a longer average commute time than the national average of 24.8
