A. The roles are very similar as both companies sell chicken and fries! Both companies have CEO’s and board members who strive to run their businesses following their values and mission statements.
B. Both companies have similar inside cultures but one goes a little more. Chick-fil-A closes their business on Sundays. The founder, Truett Cathy, made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened the first restaurant in Hapeville, Ga. Having worked seven days a week in 24 hour restaurants, Cathy saw the importance of closing on Sundays so the he and his employees could set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose – a practice that’s still upheld to this day (Who …show more content…
The political context of Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in their restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect, regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender (Grinberg, 2003). Chick-fil-A was in the spot light over same-sex marriages. Being a Christian family, same-sex marriages is frowned upon but they would never refuse someone service because of their sexual orientation. They do not let their personal beliefs be a political issue and focus on their charitable giving instead of political controversies. The core values for Zaxby’s are to be guest focused, develop talent, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Both organizations have been involved with charitable giving and being involved with the communities. For instance, Zaxby’s donated $500,000 in 2015 to Make-A-Wish, bringing the total to $1.9 million and the company has sponsored 240 wishes since 2011; Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl honored first responders through its college football bowl sponsorship; the majority of Zaxby’s locations are franchised businesses. The major difference between the two organizations is that Chick-fil-A is closed on Sunday’s to allow their employees time for themselves and they are afforded the opportunity to make it to church if they choose to. I learned that Chick-fil-A was dragged through the mud because they don’t support same-sex marriages. The media put them on blast so to speak and then the people went crazy making all sorts of negative comments and refusing to eat at Chick-fil-A restaurants because of their views. I really commend the actions of the employees at Chick-fil-A because they didn’t let the negative comments get in the way of running business. They did not treat anyone differently because of their views and moved
