In the book, The Aspects of Listening, Dr. Magee discusses the seven habits of successful people [described in the book…] and the difference between hearing someone talk and listening to understand what individuals are saying. A person has a better chance at success if they are a good listener because they will have a better understanding and be able to deliver what people need and want. When most people have a conversation, they are not really listening to what the other person is saying but listening to respond or just listening half-heartedly. Listening is important because it can bridge gaps between people and help them understand each other’s point of view.
